I Paid My Enrollment Deposit, Now What COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog If you were admitted and paid your enrollment deposit you are probably wondering what happens next.   First let me say that if you did pay your deposit, we are thrilled to have you join the SIPA class of 2011.   Second, let me say that your number one source of information at this time should still be the Welcome Page referenced in your admissions letter. Have a housing question?   The contact email is there.   Question about a Visa application?   The contact email is there.   Question about when the summer math tutorial begins?   You guessed it referenced on the Welcome Page. From this point on the Admissions Office does start to pass the baton on so to speak to the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). OSA will begin to send a series of emails in May that deal with a variety of topics releted to your enrollment.   OSA will be a large part of your life at SIPA because they run the class registration process, second year fellowship application process, and act as the student point of contact for a variety of other academic issues. This does not mean that you cannot continue to email the Admissions Office with questions, we welcome you to and you probably should because you may have not yet met those who work in OSA.   Just do not be surprised if we start to pass you on to those who work OSA and you start to see names like Ubrano, Caroline, Stefan, Mona, Cassandra, Allejandro, and Alleyne.

The recent rise in those who own smartphones allows this everyday use of digital technology and social networking to be easier than ever before. I have therefore chosen to look at the Service Delivery and Information professional area at Band One, as I believe this is most relevant to my current role. There are eight activities, eleven skills and three behaviours that apply to band one within this professional area, please see Appendix 2. The absence report could be to assist the director with looking into an individuals time keeping as part of a disciplinary, which is important as this could affect the way forward with the hearing, but the health and safety issue could be a greater risk to the business and/or individual at that precise moment in time so a risk assessment would need to be carried out immediately and then a decision could be made whether action was needed immediately and would therefore then take priority over the absence report. Treat ALL colleagues with respect and always be courteous and professional. Be open and honest about your feelings and allow others to do the same. Understand and accept personal or cultural differences. Dealing with Difficult Customers and Resolving their Complaints – Listen to the customer and thank them for bringing the problem to your attention. Sincerely convey to the customer your apology for the way the situation has made them feel, but avoiding blame and determine what the customer is seeking as a solution. Once this is established seek to agree on the solution and take quick action to resolve and follow up to ensure the customer is completely satisfied. Meeting time and Budget Constraints – Set goal and deadline expectations at the outset. Prioritise workload and delegate if there is an opportunity too if time is restricted. Research and compare costings to ensure the best value is gained without compromising quality. Must ensure the regular updates are provided. The Technological Disaster of the Titanic essays The sinking of the Titanic was the first major technological disaster of the twentieth century. What went wrong? Could this tragedy have been avoided? Today, in the 21st century with ever-advancing technologies, we've been able to solve many of the mysteries of the sinking of the Titanic. With newly discovered information, we can explore the specifics of why the world's most famous "unsinkable" ship helplessly sank below the surface of the freezing cold Atlantic Ocean in April of 1912. In the article, Technological Momentum, Hughes suggests that technology is shaped by society. I believe this stands true in the case of the Titanic. The fact that an inadequate number of lifeboats road on the Titanic because of the desire for glass-enclosed observation lounges, suites, and palm courts for wealthy travelers is an example of this. The technology for more lifeboats was there but was not used because of society's desire not to use them. The boat itself (technology) was designed to hold the riches people on the planet (society). Its grand facilities included a swimming pool, a squash court, and a Turkish bath, among other things. This shows how technology (Titanic) is shaped by society. Society was then shaped by technology when the technology failed. If anyone of the numerous actions that could've saved the ship would have taken place, then part of society wouldn't have perished that day, and the rest of society wouldn't have mourned that next morning and there on out. We would've then never learned the invaluable things we did because of this tragedy. In response to Berry's question, "even if we can build it, should we build it," in my opinion. When your key reader is more likely to be found in a boardroom than a staffroom, you need to change your approach. The focus should be less on displaying every last bit of knowledge and more on the results you want your document to produce. Plus, its pretty likely your new reader wont have the patience of your university lecturer. Short paragraphs can be helpful too, as huge blocks of text on a page can be overwhelming or offputting for the reader. But dont break at a random point just to accomplish this: it will be disorientating and disrupt the flow. Make sure that while every sentence contains only one idea, every paragraph contains just one theme.
